Abstract

Surgical treatment through occipital tentorium of cerebellum approach was performed in nine cases of mature teratoma at the pineal region. Diagnosis was confirmed by postoperative pathological examination. No perioperative death occurred. Surgery⁃related complications (visual difficulties, visual field defects, seizures) were seen in 4 cases. All cases were followed for 3 months-7 years (mean 3.70 years). The mature teratoma at the pineal region are more common in male children. The main clinical manifestations are intracranial hypertension and ataxia.
